Teacher Leadership

I believe in teacher expertise. Teachers lead in many ways: through innovative practice, disruption, and advocacy. My Ed.D. dissertation titled “Teacher Leadership: A Case Study in the Preparation of Future Teacher Leaders” examined how one teacher education program prepared its candidates to execute leadership skills and become change agents. It’s time to amplify the work that PK-12 teachers are doing and reprofessionalize the industry.

 

Individualized Coaching

I have coached in various ways. After my career as a Division I volleyball player at Boston College, I coached varsity teams in multiple secondary schools. I currently serve as an Instructional Coach and Professional Learning Community (PLC) Facilitator, helping colleagues meet their stated goals. I tutor students in Chicago or virtually on various English Language Arts skills: grammar, composition, reading comprehension, analysis, and public speaking.

Curriculum Design

I love teaching! As a secondary English Language Arts teacher with 12 years of experience, I’ve taught every high school level, from AP Literature, AP Language and Composition, American/British/World Literature, Creative Writing, Speech, and elective capstones. Curating content that is meaningful, aligned, and student-centered is a welcome challenge. I teach living authors and multicultural voices and enjoy collaborating with other English teachers.

 

Editing

I have read thousands of essays throughout my career as an English teacher. I have also written hundreds of essays across my own education, from analysis to a dissertation to white papers. From style to organization, I help writers improve their craft and produce pieces they are proud of. I’m fluent in the mechanics of both APA 6th Edition and MLA 8th edition formatting. I provide editing services for remote students, graduate students, professionals, and adult learners.
